This study undertook a visual impact assessment of a proposed gravel pit in a visually sensitive rural landscape with the area to be cleared visible from a nearby major road.
The development application was subject to a State Administrative Tribunal review,
The study included a detailed photographic survey, a description of the site's landscape character including visual amenity and a comprehensive analysis of visual access.
Visual management objectives were defined, and critical visual elements identified.  These informed the development of strategies for management of impacts.
The study was successful in clearing objections on visual impact grounds,  given the proponent  proceeded with recommended management.
